21.3-inch monitor delivers high-end performance for still and moving images
Upplands Väsby, Sweden, December 20, 2005 – Eizo Europe AB (“EIZO”) today announced the release of the 21.3" FlexScan S2100 LCD monitor. The S2100 offers professionals in CAD/CAM, DTP, call centers, and offices a large work space, accurate text/color display, and smooth moving image playback.
With a viewable image size of 21.3" and a native resolution of 1600 × 1200, the FlexScan S2100 can display two A4 size documents at full size on screen side-by-side without the need to scroll. The horizontal and vertical viewing angles are an extremely wide 178°, contrast ratio is 1000:1 and brightness is 300 cd/m². An overdrive circuit accelerates black/white and color transitions for a midtone response time of just 8 ms, ensuring that image changes in 3D CAD and video are smooth with no blurring.
An ergonomic design includes thin bezel design on all sides of the screen to help save space. Screen adjustment capabilities include tilt and swivel angles of 40° and 70°, rotation of 90° for portrait mode viewing, and a stand with a height adjustment range of 82 mm. Both D-sub and DVI-I input connectors are included for connectivity with analog and digital graphics boards. A USB 2.0 hub with one upstream and two downstream ports offers high speed connection with other USB compliant peripherals.
The FlexScan S2100 boasts a 10-bit look-up table for a color palette of over 1 billion colors from which 16.77 million are displayed to produce smooth color gradations. Color temperature from
4,000 K to 10,000K in 500 K increments can be adjusted in the OSD menu as can gamma, gain, hue, and saturation.
The FlexScan S2100 has two functions that quickly stabilize brightness and keep it at an ideal level regardless of the ambient lighting conditions. The first is EIZO’s patented drift correction circuit, which quickly stabilizes the brightness level after startup or when coming out of power save mode. The second is the BrightRegulator function where a sensor on the front bezel detects the ambient brightness and then signals the backlight to adjust the screen brightness accordingly. In a brightly lit room, BrightRegulator increases the monitor’s brightness level, whereas in a dimly lit room it decreases the brightness.
For comfortable viewing of any type of content from detailed text documents to color-rich images, the FlexScan S2100 includes EIZO’s Fine Contrast function which offers five imaging modes: Text, Picture, Custom (for individual user settings), Movie, and sRGB. Navigating between the modes is done simply by pressing a button on the front panel. With the bundled ScreenManager® Pro for LCD software1, any Fine Contrast mode can be assigned to an application so that when the application is activated the screen automatically changes to the assigned mode. This software also allows for control of OSD (on-screen display) functions with the mouse or keyboard rather than pushing the OSD buttons on the monitor’s front bezel.

The FlexScan S2100 complies with some of the strictest standards for office equipment including TCO’03 (both gray and black cabinets) and TÜV Rheinland/Ergonomics. It also carries the EIZO Eco Products 2004 in-house label signifying it meets several internal requirements such as the use of lead-free solder and chrome-free steel plates.
Warranty
EIZO stands behind the workmanship of the FlexScan S2100 with an industry leading five year warranty.
The warranty is based on a usage time of maximum 30,000 hours.
Availability
The FlexScan S2100 will begin shipping in February 2006 and will be available through EIZO’s network of distributors. The cabinet comes in a choice of grey and black.
