Upplands Väsby, Sweden, July 8, 2004 – Eizo Europe AB (“EIZO”) today announced two new monitors to its RadiForce series of medical display systems – the 2 megapixel monochrome RadiForce G22 and the 1 megapixel color R12. Both monitors utilize the latest LCD technology and are compatible with EIZO’s new RadiCS™ calibration and quality control (QC) management software, ensuring stable and long-term image consistency needed for accurate diagnostic imaging.

The RadiForce R12 offers a 1280 × 1024 native resolution across a 19" screen. It utilizes a new Super-IPS (In-Plane Switching) panel with almost no noticeable color shift when viewing the screen from oblique angles. The viewing angles are a wide 170°, brightness is 250 cd/m², and contrast ratio 450:1. It also includes dual DVI-I ports, which can accept both digital and analog input. Support for analog signal types includes separate sync, composite sync, and sync-on-green, ensuring compatibility with workstations and standards PCs. The screen settings can be optimized for any application through EIZO’s unique Fine Contrast function which offers front-button access to two DICOM preset modes corresponding to clear base and blue base film, as well as Text, sRGB, Calibration, and Custom modes.
The versatile image capabilities and support for landscape and portrait mode make the R12 an ideal reference monitor for CT (computed tomography) and MRI (magnetic resonance imaging). Alternatively, it is also suitable as a HIS (hospital information systems) terminal for viewing patient charts.

The 19.6" RadiForce G22 is designed for CT, MRI, and CR (computed radiography). It features a newly developed Super-IPS panel with a 1200 × 1600 native resolution and is available in both clear base and blue base options. An 11.5-bit look-up table produces a palette of 3,061 grayscale tones from which 1,024 (10-bit) can be displayed simultaneously. EIZO also offers several graphics boards with 10-bit output. The G22 Brightness is 800 cd/m² and contrast ratio 600:1 for comfortable viewing in ambient light environments and dark reading rooms.
The R12 and G22 are compatible with EIZO’s new RadiCS calibration and QC management software (sold separately). Medical and IT professionals can use RadiCS to perform wide-ranging tasks including acceptance and constancy testing, DICOM calibration, and pattern and self-diagnostic checks. Calibration can be performed with a sensor that is built into the G22 and R12 or with an external calibration device that comes as part of the RadiCS package. A history function records calibration and test pattern check results for continuous tracking of monitor performance. RadiCS software includes RadiCS GX2 and RX1 calibration kits for monochrome and color RadiForce monitors respectively.
Additionally, RadiCS includes EIZO’s ToneCurve Tuning Utility for color LCD monitors. With this user-friendly tool, users can choose 256 tones from the R12’s 10-bit (1,021 tone) look-up table for display by inputting values in a table or manipulating control points on a graph. Once a range of values have been set, they can be shared with other RadiForce color 1MP and 2MP units through a USB connection.
Both models share a number of common features such as a thin bezel design along all four sides that occupies minimal space and lessens eye movement in a multi-monitor array. The stands are height adjustable and the panels tilt and swivel 40° and 70° respectively. An EIZO patented brightness stabilization function that quickly stabilizes the brightness level after startup or coming out of power save mode, and automatically compensates for brightness changes caused by the surrounding temperature. These models comply with stringent medical, safety, and emissions standards including TÜV/GM, the CE Medical Device Directive, and cTÜVus.
EIZO offers both MED Series and VREngine Series graphics boards for the G12 and R22 with a choice of AGP (Accelerated Graphics Port) and PCI (Peripheral Component Interconnect) bus interfaces. All boards contain twin DVI (digital) outputs, and support both portrait and landscape orientation without the need for installing third-party software.
Availability
RadiForce G22, RadiCS GX2 and RX1 calibration kits are available now and RadiForce R12 during the month of August.
